Viola graduated in law at the University of Bremen (Germany) and has two Master degrees in Conflict Management and Human Resource Management from the University of Barcelona (Spain).
As scientific assistant at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland), she conducted investigations on European and international environmental law, in particular on economic instruments and self-regulation structures as well as audit and labeling systems for companies. Furthermore, she worked on the implementation of international environmental agreements.
During her five years working and living experience in Guatemala, she advised and participated in dialogue processes about the social and labor situation in the textile industry, conducted trainings and monitored the Human Rights situation for the High Commissioner of Human Rights of the United Nations in Guatemala.
She is cofounder and associate of Iber-Consult GbR and has been working in the area of conflict management, Human Rights and gender in Latin America, Afghanistan, Central Asia and the Philippines.
Her main field of interest is the management of projects on conflict management and peace building, stakeholder engagement, mediation and the role of the private sector in conflict regions. Furthermore, she works as a trainer on Human Rights, Good Governance and Mediation for several international institutions. She is also collaborator of the Mediation Department of the Institute for Live-Long-Learning (IL3) of the University of Barcelona and the consulting office MásMediación in Barcelona.
