Director BSD Spain
Niels has a Master in Environmental Science with a specialization on Sustainability Management and Communication from the University of Lüneburg (Germany).
Before joining BSD, he directed CSR related consultancy projects for multinational companies in the energy, aluminium, construction, tobacco, and retail sectors in Europe, Latin America and Africa. Moreover, he has experience in mediation processes. Amongst others, for the German consultancy firm IFOK he directed a project group in the mediation process on the expansion of Frankfurt Airport.
Since 2007 he has been developing and implementing projects for multinational companies, SMEs, public administrations, academic institutions and agencies of the international development cooperation as the director of BSD Spain.
He is an expert in stakeholder engagement processes, mediation, development of sustainability strategies, CSR communication, impact assessment, implementation of CSR management systems, and inclusive business.
At the same time, he has more than 10 years experience in international development cooperation, managing projects on quality infrastructure, environmental management and supply chain management in Latin America.
He has in-depth knowledge on the implementation, auditing, and verification of the standards and guidelines GRI, AA1000AS, ISO 14001, ISO 9001, GLOBALG.A.P (GRASP), SA8000, BSCI and EMAS.
Beyond this, Niels is a certified trainer of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), a trained assurance provider according to the AA1000AS standard and a teacher of the International MBA at EAE Business School, Barcelona.
