Vlad Coroama holds a Master's degree in computer science from the Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany, and a PhD from the ETH Zurich, Switzerland.
For the last decade, his work and research focused on the relation between ICT (Information and Communications Technology) and sustainability. His domain of activity now encompasses the assessment of environmental impacts of ICT both during the use phase and along the entire life cycle. He contributes years of experience in measuring the carbon footprint of ICT and ICT-based services, as well as their substitution potential for more energy or carbon-intensive technologies. He also made several methodological contributions to the life-cycle assessment of ICT.
Before joining BSD, he worked for one of the largest Swiss technology and management consultancies, researched the interplay between ICT and sustainability at Brazil’s São Paulo University, and later inside Switzerland’s Federal Labs for Material Science and Technology. He was co-organiser of the first World Resources Forum 2009 in Davos, Switzerland.
