Hugo Vergara


Hugo Vergara is the Director of BSD Chile.

Hugo Vergara holds a Masters degree in Corporate Social Responsibility, Accounting and Social Auditing from the University of Barcelona, Spain. He has a degree in History and Geography from the Instituto Blas Cañas. He was an entrepreneur and held the position of  Business Development Manager for multinationals in the field of youth tourism.

As a Fellow of the Avina Foundation, Hugo Vergara developed the first Social Balance and the first CSR Management Model for SME in Chile with diagnostic, implementation and verification tools for SME working within supply chains.

For the last four years Hugo Vergara has been engaged as General Manager of Forum Empresa, a network of leading American companies that promote Corporate Social Responsibility. In this position he participated together with Instituto Ethos Brazil in the global debate on ISO 26000, the future International Social Standard.

Hugo Vergara has developed training in CSR for organisations such as GTZ Germany, Acción RSE Chile, CERES in Ecuador, CENEFI in Mexico and others, focusing on reputation building, marketing, strategic communication, responsible supply chain management, community relations and stakeholder engagement.
